Time is running so fast, almost forgot to setup my threat for the month. -_- I'll be working mostly on the Archangel Gargantuan Warbeast from the Legion of Everblight faction in Hordes (from Privateer Press). I started the basecoat of this guy last month. But I want to finish it this month for the client. It's a really cool model. And it's big. Real big. And there's a crapton of details. And it's a real pain in the ass to hold properly for painting... but a Yaum's gotta do what a Yaum's gotta do! Airbrush basecoat on the beast = done.  But right now I'm busy on the base. Here's a WIP shot:  -------------- Next up is a duo of Specialis Pueris from the Nuems faction in Relics (from Tor Gaming). I was not planning to paint these gals so soon, but since Tor Gaming came up with a little online painting contest (I'm a real sucka for these!) then they went up the list pretty fast. Check out the contest over here on FB and participate (linky) ! Relics is a very good game, with intesresting and unique game mechanics. It deserves your attention, trust me  In fact, Tor Gaming was the sponsor of a previous paint threat here on the WGC forums and it's what got me to join this forum in the first place   (No pics of the Specialis Pueris yet. Member Since: August 3, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Tuesday July 15, 2014 2:21 PM Well, the plan is to bring it down to a really dark shade then use highlights to bring back the muscle structures. If that makes sense? The point is, in the end it will almost look like there is no skin. So it will have to go from black, to a really dark red, to bright red to orange. That's the plan. I managed to finish the base and the dark wash & varnish in order to put the Archangel back on its base. Now it's on to the details. No pic (I took a pic but it was sooooooooo bad that it was just misleading, so I decided not to show you guys) The Specialis Pueris are on their way. The base coat is done for the cloaks and the bases are halfway done.   And for kicks and giggles, I'm repainting a Funko POP Game of Thrones dragon toy for my little 5-yo princess. She likes purple. And glitter.  To be continued... |

Member Since: August 3, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Wednesday July 30, 2014 9:13 AM Hello again ladies & gents!As it happens, summer is a really bad time to paint seriously (srs bizznss) and I just couldn't find the time these past few weeks (and upcoming weeks look to be just as busy). Damn you, real life! July ends tomorrow, and nothing is done. My threat is a total failure yet again (postponed next month, yaaaaaaay...) Still, I'll show you where my projects stand right now. The Archangel, mister big bad beast. Now on it's base. The skin is done and pretty much exactly what I was aiming for  The teeth and boney spikes are almost done (just some fine tuning left) and so is the dark blue carapace. After that I'll paint tongue and some orange OSL on the sides of the head... The Specialis Pueri duo. ARGH! They'll be done this week! But not this month! So close! Hahaha I only need to fix them on their base and paint some OSL on them (again with the cheesy light effects!). One is throwing a fireball (thanks to a little greenstuff add-on from yours truly ) and the other one is channeling a lightning spell. This one will require some SPFX (ooooooh O_o) and I kinda wanted to show you people how I was gonna tackle this but... oh well... I'll upate this post at some point, in August. Stay tuned! Viserion, super-ugly toy from Funko Pop! Now, that one is DONE (wasn't part of the threat ). It kinda got priority over the others because the "client" is my very own 5-yo little princess. Now, she likes princesses, dragons, purple and glitter... so I gave her exactly that. That toy is now her #1 FAVORITE TOY EVER (well, it is at the moment... kids' attention is so fickle). She's super happy that daddy painted that for her, and daddy is super happy that his little princess is super happy. Win-win !!!  I also abused the Krylon Crystal clear coat varnish. It's a kid's toy, it will see a life of hardship and I want the paintjob to hold as long as possible hehehe You can see the repainted version next to the original here (yes, someone gave me another one. The. Same. Exact. one.)  So yeah, I'll see ou next month with the conclusion of the Archangel and Specialis Pueri. Cheers people! - Yaum |

Member Since: August 3, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Friday August 1, 2014 12:42 PM LET THERE BE LIGHT(ning)!!!Ok, with a day late, I present thee with a quick "lightning" tutorial. Or "How to add cheeseball SPFX to your model for a penny!" Take one of those garbage bag's wire attach and remove the plastic skin. Take some pliers and twist that thing like there's no tomorrow (leave no straight part!). Then a simple white primer.  Drill some small holes on your model where the lightning will connect. Cut the wire to different length. And voilà. ^_^  ------------------------ I had time to finish the 2 Specialis Pueri, took some pics and made a montage. Pueri 1  Pueri 2  Cheers! - Yaum P.S.
