Personally i sit models in brake fluid overnight and the paint separates from the plastic giving you a fresh surface to work on. What is your take on this? Thanks IllegibleLoki |

Comes in a purple bottle from almost any auto parts place or canadian tire from here in Saskatchewan. More expensive than simple green and slightly corrosive so you have to wear gloves but i find it works way faster than simple green. usually good within 8 hours. |

It take a little longer than brake fluid but it works great and don't really have to worry about damaging plastics or resin. No problems with metal figures for sure.Chung "Peach... Member Since: August 28, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Friday May 9, 2014 2:14 PM Revell Airbrush Cleaner - Part Number 39005 - I don't know if it's available in the US (I'm based in Belfast, N.Ireland) I don't know how completely safe it is to use for those of us with skin allergies etc - I wear gloves, eye protection and an organic vapor mask as well as that I open all nearby windows cos frak me it stinks I also don't know how well resin/fine cast will stand up to it, but it can slightly 'soften' plastic if left in too long (over night - rinse it under a cold tap and set aside until the plastic re-hardens) But for metal minis and acrylic paints? You're talking minutes...I got the old lead space marine librarian i used in a recent paint threat back to 'as new' in about 5 mins with a soft tooth brush. Plastic to almost as new. I have an old glass pickle jar about six inches tall with a 2.5 inch diameter. I fill it about a half inch deep with the cleaning fluid and drop in 5-6 minis and close the lid. 20-30 seconds of swirling the jar (not shaking like a cocktail) and the paint lifts off like dry skin off sun burn. Where the mini doesn't get wet with fluid, the vapors seem to lift the paint. I stripped a whole Leman Russ back to the plastic in less than 10 minutes. The paint forms a film, which you remove using a soft tooth brush. Job done. After, the fluid in the jar is still good for re-use.
