I then base coated all the mechanical areas black followed by a drybrush of bolt gun metal. I have also based some of the detail colours. My plan now is to work on the metallics a bit and add some variation with brass copper and gold to the mechanical parts around the legs and engine. Once that is done I plan to edge highlight all of the green panels, then paint in the detail. I am planning to try out a dark enamel wash from AK interactive once the bulk of the painting is done...not tried this before I've always been a strictly acrylic man but liked the idea of being able to control the wash a little more on a larger model... Still lots to do before I get to that so I'd better get on with it! Cheers MM |

Member Since: February 23, 2014 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Thursday April 24, 2014 6:42 PM I've had a couple of days of solid hobby time, so I've managed to make more progress, I have neatened everything up and edge highlighted. I do like the clean look of it but it is quite bright and cartoony, I want this guy to look like he has seen some action, so I've decided to do some battle damage and weathering once I have finished the tiny details ( lenses, cables etc) and applied the transfers... Cheers MM |

Member Since: February 23, 2014 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Friday April 25, 2014 7:37 AM Thanks mate, I was sooo tempted to leave it at that but I have been wanting to get stuck into some weathering for a while, and the dread strikes me as the ideal subject to look beaten up from battle so I went for it.I sponged some black/DA green mix onto each part, then used a brush to redefine some of the areas, then used moot green (my highlight colour) to pick out the edges of the paint where it would look worn. I then used a 6B pencil and picked out a few edges here and there to give them a dull metallic sheen. I also added some scratches in places to suggest ricochets or claw marks. I haven't gone for rust as it might start getting a bit nurgley (is that a word?) but may add some dark enamel streaks and some black pigment around the engine and weapon vents, the hydraulics on the legs still look a bit shiny so need to do something with that. Anyway hope you like it so far Cheers MM |

It has been a challenge getting this done before the deadline, but happy with the result. The dreadnought is easily one of my favourite minis I have worked on, hope you like the result. Good luck with your threats, some awesome stuff up so far! Cheers MM |
