Tempted to re-work some of my own with it. Any advice on how to get started? I was wondering.... How thick was the paint? Did you layer the edges, painting progressively lighter edges working towards a 'light source'? What sort of brush did you use? How long before hand did you stop drinking coffee!?! Anything else? Member Since: October 6, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Tuesday July 22, 2014 7:54 PM Thanks guys!Um, that's many questions! I used a 00 brush (specifically a winsor newton series 7 00 miniature - not my favorite brush for this kind of thing, but it was around), the paint was dilluted a bit out of the pot. I use Cote d'arms paint which is fairly 'flowy' out of the pot anyway. As we know the thickness/dillution of your paint depends on the brand/weather/personal preference/star alignment/weekday anyway, so I'm afraid this is something you have to experiment with yourself a bit. I layered on my highlights, each time 'pulling' the paint towards where I wanted the highlight and did the same for the shadows. A couple of times I went back and applied a glaze of the base red to the whole area to tie it back together a bit. The edge highlights however were pretty much just single lines I think. Luckily I have a strong coffee tolerance and drink a lot anyway, so I don't get the shakes from it really. I do struggle when hungry though, I can't really do much painting when it's almost dinner time. Good luck, be sure to let us know how you get on! |
