 Member Since: May 11, 2013  RK: 1 MP: 0   | Saturday May 11, 2013 6:03 AM Hi GuysIm currently using a Patriot 105 and loving every minute, however im in the market for a detail brush to go along side it. so with that im wondering peoples opinions on the Krome and the Sotar 20/20 I watched Chungs interview with Ken Badger and i noted that the internals of these brushes were the same, so with that in mind, does it simply come down to preference or is the something about the designs that makes them better/worse for miniatures? |

The Krome is build very different from the 20/20 but it sports the same needle and nozzle sizes.I use both the Krome and Sotar. I usually use the Krome for all my detail work but if I need to get really close and personal, I switch to the Sotar because the front chassis is shorter than the Krome. The trigger is also closer to the cup on the Sotar but there really don't affect anything unless you got big fat fingers. The Sotar has more of a compact feel and has a heavier front end than the Krome. Hope that helps. Chung "Peach... I can eat a peach for hours..." |

Member Since: May 11, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Saturday May 11, 2013 9:10 AM i think it does, id rather have a more balance weight distribution making it easier and less fatiguing to hold over longer periods, looks like the krome would be heavier over all, but wont be pulling the front down. |

 Member Since: May 7, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Saturday May 11, 2013 10:27 PM If the Patriot feels good in your hand, the Krome will feel almost the same- if you close your eyes you cant tell them apart in terms of balance and trigger. So, that level of familiarity can have alot of benefits.That being said, I use a Sotar as my detail brush. Since I use me detail brushes for longer periods of time, its lighter weight makes a difference. And, while I doubt this particular aspect affects your choice any--the ergonomics of the Sotar work better for me- the bigger paint cups on the Patriot/Krome cause a bit of a problem for those of us with longer nails-since my nail hits it when the trigger is forward. The paint cup on the Sotar is smaller, and sits lower- so my finger nail goes over it even though its closer to the trigger.  Member Since: May 13, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Monday May 13, 2013 6:35 PM I bought the Patriot 105 as my general airbrush and the Krome for detailed work.Haven't tried the Sotar but I'm sure glad I went with the Krome as it's so balanced and the larger colour cup hasn't hindered me at all. Also it's more comfortable to hold than the Patriot which I found strange as the Patriot 105 is lighter. |

 Member Since: May 13, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Monday May 13, 2013 6:38 PM I have both and personally I prefer the Krome quite a bit, the trigger is much further back and it weighs a lot more, however you can not take the needle out of the brush without first removing the back cover, this is weird because you can loosen it without removing the cover. If the needs we about an inch longer you could however. Just my preference, but I say go with the Krome. |
